DDS is the agency through which the State of California provides services and supports to children and adults with developmental disabilities. These disabilities include mental retardation, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, autism and related conditions.

For Information on current policy issues and concerns related to early intervention, and Early Start...With Early Start . . . We can make a difference. A child with or at risk of developmental delay or disability can receive an "Early Start" in the State of California. Teams of service coordinators, health care providers, early intervention specialists, therapists, and parent resource specialists can evaluate and assess an infant or toddler and provide appropriate early intervention services to children eligible for California Early Start.

The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is the nations largest and most influential organization of early childhood educators and others dedicated to improving the quality of programs for children from birth through third grade.
