Baby Sign Language is an incredible tool for supporting early communication in pre-verbal children of all abilities. In this workshop you'll learn how basic American Sign Language (ASL) vocabulary builds on a child's use of gestures for early communication and allows for more useful and productive communication, reducing frustration for both the child and their caregivers. You'll also learn strategies for introducing signing to families.

Learning Objectives:

  • Practical strategies for using sign language to support pre-verbal skills in all children
  • Identify ways to integrate functional sign language into everyday activities
  • Explore the use of music, books & play for modeling and practicing signs
  • Examine common misconceptions regarding the use of baby signs
