This advanced ped
iatric sleep training examines the gut-brain connection and how that influe
nces regulation of sleep for young children. Attendees will learn about nut
ritional building blocks that are necessary for optimal sleep and how those
needs change within the first three years of life. We will explore food in
tolerances and how those connect to malabsorption of nutrients and irregula
r bowel movements. Finally, the training will offer strategies for improvin
g gut-health and how to identify when to recommend diet changes to parents.
This event is different from the February 26 event and attend
ance at that previous event is not required.
Objectives
Courtney Palm holds a Mast
er’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University and is a Lice
nsed Marriage and Family Therapist working in this field since 2005. She co
mpleted three years of a clinical internship to specialize in child develop
ment and sleep intervention through the Child Development Institute in Cali
fornia. Courtney is certified in DIR: Floortime, the Neuro-Sequential Model
of Therapeutics, and the Babies/Pre-Steps Model of Intervention for premat
ure babies.
Currently, Courtney works for Early Intervention Colorado providing developmental assessments and sleep intervention to children wit h developmental delays. She also worked with Children’s Hospital Colorado i n the Postpartum Depression Clinic providing attachment work with moms and babies in addition to sleep support.
