Description: Music is a collaborative activity that both ignites social bonding and stimulates the whole brain. When a young child with special needs such as autism has difficulty learning to speak and socialize, song has successfully facilitated them to become kindergarten-ready. We'll explore the field of music therapy and the underlying neurological mechanisms of music and speech perception/production responsible for these functional gains. Through video and collaborative activities including hands-on training with the Sing and Speak 4 Kids interactive computer program, participants will experience how music and sound can affect the brain and speech. It is going to be interactive so bring your phone, laptop or tablet! Click here for more details.
