This training will first focus on the intersecting components of sleep that affect all children, regardless of development and/or diagnosis. The additional key components of sleep are: nutrition, gut-health, sensory processing, and attachment; incorporating these elements into the evaluation process supports providers in creating a "whole-child" sleep protocol that is inclusive to their individual needs. The second portion of the the training focuses specifically on children with neuromotor conditions and how those conditions impact sleep quality. Attendees will review two cases to discuss the assessment of each child's needs and the intervention options for their specific sleep concerns.
Learning Objectives:
- Learn about the top four factors affecting sleep for all children (nutrition, gut-health, sensory components, and attachment) to develop a systemic approach to assessing pediatric sleep needs.
- Discuss the unique differences affecting sleep for children with neuromotor conditions.
- Explore different sleep strategies for two different case studies to assist in developing inclusive sleep plans.
