Who Will Serve the Kids?

It has become a reality that everyone is struggling with the shortage of personnel across all disciplines within Early Start Services. (OT, PT, Speech and Language Therapists, Early Childhood Special Educators, Nurses, Social Workers, Behaviorists, etc.) As the number of children and families served are projected to continue to grow, how will we navigate this ongoing shortage?

Join us for a conversation as we explore the current issues and potential solutions. We want to hear your ideas – what has worked for you? What are the barriers to hiring? How are you covering caseloads?

Dr. Leslie Fox is the Director for Early Childhood Mental Health, Development and Disabilities programs at WestEd. She is responsible for project development, oversight and evaluation of cross-sector early childhood policies and practices intended to improve learning, health and developmental outcomes for infants, toddlers and preschoolers.

Dr. Fox joined WestEd after working at the US Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs where she provided monitoring and technical assistance to state agencies implementing the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Read more HERE
