Cortical Visual Impairment and Routines-Based Strategies
Thursday, February 10, 2022 8:30am - 10:30am (2 hour event) Virtual Event with Tara Tompai
This event will NOT be recorded, please plan on attending LIVE
Research tells us that young children learn best when learning is embedded into day-to-day routines. The same philosophy applies to children with cortical visual impairment (CVI). Join us in exploring a variety of strategies that can support visual access, the understanding of what is being seen and the development and expansion of concepts within the child’s daily routines. Learn about how to increase the child’s overall perception of their surrounding world.
Participants will:
- Develop a basic understanding of how our visual system works.
- Learn about the 10 characteristics associated with CVI.
- Develop knowledge relating to the 3 Phases of CVI.
- Learn about strategies that can be implemented into a child’s day-to-day routines that support visual access, visual attention, and visual perception.
- Learn about how to support overall learning within day-to-day routines for a child with CVI.
