Attendees will learn to navigate everyday moments to successfully support autistic children and their families through family-centered, strengths-based approaches while incorporating best-practices. Through case studies, lecture, video examples, and reflective practice, participants will leave with increased confidence and skills for incorporating effective methods and developing creative solutions with families during their everyday activities.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify families’ recurring challenges as a starting point for strengths-based intervention with autistic children and children with autistic traits.
  • Understand how caregivers’ experiences, perspectives, well-being, and sensory needs impact their participation in early intervention sessions.
  • Describe ways to embed relationship-building strategies and evidence-based intervention strategies into families’ daily routines.
  • Building from our own strengths, participants will develop an individualized plan to meet 1-3 specific professional goals.
