URGENT CALL ALERT!
Tell Your Congressional Representative to Oppose Any Cuts to Medicaid Funding
On Tuesday, February 25 at 6PM EST, the U.S. House of Representatives is planning to vote "Yes" or "No" on Medicaid ( CA.-Medi-Cal)
Call (Medicaid Hotline - (866) 426-2631 by 9:00 PM PST) to tell your Congressional Representative to oppose any cuts to Medicaid.
The vote to cut Medicaid by trillions would dramatically impact the availability of services for Californians with intellectual and developmental disabilities, etc. If Congress and President Trump sign a cut to Medicaid into law, it would force California to look elsewhere for these dollars that it doesn't have. Cutting programs funded by Medicaid (California's Medi-Cal) would be the result. What are some of these programs?
- Early Intervention - Part C Median % of children in Part C that are also Medicaid eligible is 50% Median % of state Part C budget that comes from Medicaid is 30%.
- All regional center services for Californians with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families (supported living, supported employment, transportation, day programs, respite, group homes, and many more).
- In-Home Supportive Services for people with disabilities and seniors (IHSS).
- Covered health care for people with disabilities, low-income children, pregnant mothers, and other low-income Californians (Medi-Cal).
- All long-term care services, including nursing facilities, prescription drugs, and home and community-based services. (HCBS)
- School services and therapies for children on Medi-Cal, including school psychologists, speech and language therapists, personal care aides, nurses, and more.
- Fact sheet attached below
Several rallies were held last week (Representatives Ken Calvert, Jay Obernolte and Young Kim districts) where citizens have been able to express their support for the necessity of services of Medicaid (Medi-Cal). Representative David Valadao, a Republican Member of Congress in the greater Bakersfield region, is being widely praised for raising concerns with the proposed cuts to Medicaid.
